Chinese Wind Power Firm Opens US R&D Facility (MY, XJNGF, VWDRY)

Posted: March 14, 2012 at 1:10 pm China Ming Yang Wind Power Group Ltd. ( NYSE: MY ) has opened a US research and development facility at North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus. The new R&D center will focus its research on offshore wind turbines “to further enhance energy output and lower the cost of electricity.” China Ming Yang is one of China’s newer and smaller wind power companies, with a market cap of around $242 million.

Goldman Adjusts Q1 GDP Forecast Again, This Time Higher To 2.0%

Last Thursday, following the second in one day GDP forecast tweak lower by Goldman on disappointing Consumer and ISM data, we said "And this, ladies and gents, is ultra high frequency economics, where HFT machines push the market up and down without reason, and where this has an immediate impact on economic indicators, all changed around in real time." Sure enough, today, following the better than expected Services ISM print, Goldman has now revised its GDP tracking number, this time higher, from 1.9% to 2.0%! At this rate GDP will soon become a coincident indicator of nothing more than consumer confidence that record high gas prices are a bullish indicator for consumption. That it is already a coincident indicator to real-time economic data, and merely shows the prevalent confusion within the strategist community, is a given

Residents of Tornado-Stricken States Hoping to Rebuild

Residents across six states began the difficult work of rebuilding after violent storms and tornadoes pulverized thousands of homes and killed at least 37 people. Rescue crews were wrapping up searches of the wreckage Sunday, as the governors of the two hardest hit states, Kentucky and Indiana, vowed to help residents get back on their feet.
